Mark John Carr, 60 of St. Petersburg passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 surrounded by loving family.
Mark was a retired St. Petersburg police officer and member of the Suncoast PBA. During his 30 plus years of service with the St Petersburg Police Department, Mark was a Community Police Officer, a Vice and Narcotics Detective, on the Downtown Deployment Team and a longtime SWAT Team member. He was nominated for both prestigious Office of the Year and the Ned March Awards. After his retirement, Mark continued to serve the city as a reserve officer.
Mark loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was always quick with a joke or silly antic. They will always remember him for his infamous “Hey Di…”, Sunday family time, and love of reality TV.
In his spare time, Mark enjoyed politics, sports, and horse racing. He could be found vacationing every summer at Saratoga Race Course.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Diana; daughters, Rebecca Carr, Meagan Carr, Kaitlin (Thomas) Jockers, and Aubrey Carr; grandchildren, Sierra Carr, Emma Carr, and Kayden Haun; mother, Patricia Carr; bother, Clifford (Joanne) Carr; sister, Julie (Mike) MacArevey; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerome Carr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 9, 2020 beginning at 3 pm until time of service at 4 pm.
